Abstract
In this paper, we discuss a variable polarized undulator scheme having a harmonic field component. We study the characteristics of the electron motion in this type of undulator and analyze the spectral properties of the emitted radiation. We also derive the free-electron laser gain with this modified undulator and compare our results with the standard variable polarized undulator free-electron laser gain.
