Abstract
We present the results of simulations carried out to evaluate the behavior of the space charge dominated beam envelopes during the injection in a compact cyclotron. We have obtained the proper matching conditions by optimizing the beam parameters of the injected beam and have estimated the limit on the beam current that can be injected in a given aperture. The dependence of the limiting current on various machine and beam related parameters has also been studied.
