Abstract

Blue thermoluminescence (TL) emission of two different beta-irradiated synthetic lithium aluminosilicates (LiAlSiO4 and LiAlSi10O22) grown by sol–gel technique have been investigated. The present work reports on a basic phenomenological description of the TL response of both 1200 °C for 12 h preannealed and non-preannealed LiAlSiO4 and LiAlSi10O22. The dose dependence of the total net glow curve exhibits an acceptable linearity in the range of 0.5–5 Gy regardless of the given thermal pretreatment. This behaviour indicates that this material could potentially be suitable for dosimetric purposes.
