Abstract
The ALICE Silicon Pixel Detector consists of two barrel layers of hybrid silicon pixel detectors. In total 9.8×1069.8×106 pixel cells with 50μm×425μm will provide precision tracking information in the high multiplicity environment expected in heavy ion collisions. This paper gives an overview of the system, its components and the test procedures that have been developed.
