Abstract
Neutrons and light charged particles produced in 1.2-GeV proton-induced spallation reactions on various target nuclei have been measured simultaneously and event-wise using two 4π4π detectors, both with high total efficiencies of about 75%75%. The data provide direct access to the amount of projectile energy dissipated into nuclear excitation. The measured absolute production cross-sections, particle-multiplicities and excitation energy distributions are compared with results obtained in simulation calculations with different codes.
