Abstract
This paper considers scintimammography imaging using two different image acquisition/formation methods: Low-Energy High-Resolution (LEHR) collimator, and Modified Uniformly Redundant Arrays (MURAs)-coded aperture (CA) systems. Using Monte-Carlo simulation, the effectiveness and performance of both systems were evaluated by quantitative comparison of lesion contrast and full-width half-maximum under a variety of clinical imaging situations. The results from the CA studies suggest that for the particular geometry studied, the MURAs-CA gives comparable performance compared to LEHR collimator.
