Abstract
A thick enriched isotopic 28Si target is required for a hyper-nuclear spectroscopy experiment. We have successfully prepared Si targets of 50–125 mg/cm2 in thickness, 15–25 mm in diameter and without backing support by using the high intensity vibrational powder plating (HIVIPP) method. The targets properties were tested with 3.2 MeV Ne+ heavy ions and a high-power CW laser beam.
