Abstract
⺠Covariant metric-free jump conditions for the electromagnetic field are derived. ⺠Covariantly defined surface current is considered. ⺠Lorentzian type metric from existence of the wave front in isotropic media. ⺠The result holds for ordinary materials as well as for metamaterials.
