Abstract

•Synthesis and application of ZnO/CNTs as a sensor for noradrenaline analysis.•The propose sensor reduce ovepotential of noradrenaline compare to bare electrode.•The sensor was used for voltammetric determination of noradrenaline in real samples.

In the presence study we describe synthesis and application of new nanocomposite (ZnO/CNTs) room temperature ionic liquid (RTIL) modified carbon paste electrode as a voltammetric sensor for determination of noradrenaline (NE) in pharmaceutical and biological samples. The proposed sensor exhibits an enhanced effectiveness for the electro-oxidation of NE in aqueous solution. The oxidation peak potential for NE at a surface of the ionic liquid (1, 3-dipropylimidazolium bromide) ZnO/CNTs carbon paste electrode (ZnO/CNTs/IL/CPE) appeared at 440 mV. Square wave voltammetry (SWV) was applied as a very sensitive electrochemical method for the determination of NE. The linear response range and detection limit were found to be 5.0 × 10−8 to 4.5 × 10−4 M and 2.0 × 10−8 M, respectively. The proposed sensor was successfully applied for the determination of NE in urine athletes and ampoule samples.
