Abstract
We study theoretically the dwell time for electrons travelling through a quantum wire irradiated under a transversely-polarized external electromagnetic field. Using the semiclassical method of an atom interaction with single-mode field originally proposed in quantum optics, we obtain a two-level electron-field interaction wavefunction in the framework of free-electron approximation. Consequently, using this wavefunction the electron dwell time through the quantum wire is calculated in accord with transport property.
