We have investigated Blume–Capel model on a cylindrical Ising nanotube by using the effective field theory with correlations. We have found first- and second-order phase transition. Magnetization, magnetic susceptibility, internal energy, specific heat and free energy expressions have been found and calculated numerically for different crystal field parameter. Moreover, we have obtained that tricritical point depends on the coupling constant between core and surface shell.
► Surface shell and core magnetization of spin-1 Ising nanotube is studied by EFT with correlations. ► This is the first investigation of Blume–Capel Ising nanotube. ► The effects of crystal field on the system is investigated as well. ► Both first- and second-order phase transition are observed. ► Magnetic susceptibilities, specific heat, internal energy and free energy of the system have also been studied in detail.
