Abstract
⺠A nonmodular topological phase is defined for interference with N-state particles. ⺠A simple proof and a geometric interpretation for the proposed formula is provided. ⺠Topological phase jumps are demonstrated in simulations with a specific Hamiltonian. ⺠An effective Hamiltonian interpretation for the topological phases is proposed.
