Abstract
The characteristics of inertial amplification induced gaps are derived and compared with those of local resonance and Bragg gaps in finite lattices. Deep inertial amplification gaps at low frequencies are obtained without using a multitude of unit cells. These gaps remain deep regardless of boundary conditions, excitation direction or mode.
