Abstract
Ordered stress relief patterns are observed in an aluminum (Al) film system deposited on silicone oil surfaces and the dependence between the band structure and the substrate temperature is studied. It is unexpected that the ordered patterns exist in both the transparent and nontransparent Al films depending on the substrate temperature and deposition rate. We show that the experimental phenomena mainly result from the temperature dependence of the physical properties of the oil substrates.
