Abstract
A simple algebraic model is constructed with the aim of investigating the time evolution of the symmetry properties of a nonlinear continuous system. The model is constructed so as to mimic the dynamics of a two-dimensional inviscid flow bounded by periodic conditions, but can easily generalized to more complex dynamics involving magnetized plasma configurations.
