Abstract
Periodic precipitation phenomena constitute a good example of self-organization in chemical systems. In order to simplify models of periodic precipitation as much as possible, we propose here two approximate schemes that eliminate the dynamics of the intermediate colloidal product explicitly: a steady-state elimination scheme and a local chemical equilibrium one.
