Abstract
Precessional magnetization reversal of a thin film induced by a small oscillating field perpendicular to the easy anisotropy axis is studied. Compared with the conventional precession switching induced by a static field, the transverse oscillating field is more efficient for the magnetization switching with small damping constants α. The amplitude of the oscillating field can be an order of magnitude smaller than the anisotropy field when α<0.01. The diagram of the switching events that finally stabilized under the control of the oscillating field is shown. The dependence of the precessional motion of the magnetization on the dissipative damping of the oscillations is also studied.
