Abstract
Enhanced photoluminescence (PL) phenomena have been observed at the ends/junctions of the hexagonal ZnO micro-rods prepared from zinc grains by the thermal evaporation method. In order to study the origin of the phenomena, finite difference time domain (FDTD) method was employed here for simulation. This enhanced PL was analysed to be attributed to the waveguide effect, and a good agreement with the enhanced PL phenomena was obtained.
