Abstract

Mn substituted Mg-Zn ferrites have been synthesized by employing a co-precipitation technique using oxalate precursors. Initial permeability is found to increases initially up to x = 0.10 and with further addition of Mn2+ content it decreases. The observed variation in initial permeability can be explained by considering the variation of saturation magnetization Ms, anisotropy constant K1, grain size D and density values. Thermal variation of initial permeability reveals that for higher Mn2+ content, μi -T curves becomes flat and it exhibits thermal hysteresis. The loss factor values are small which is due to the large density of the sample and due to the processing technique utilized.
