Abstract

Photoluminescence (PL) of the Sr2CeO4 phosphor, doped with Erbium with different concentrations (0.01, 0.1, 0.5 and 1 mol %) is described in the present paper. The phosphors were synthesized using the standard solid state reaction technique using urea and citric acid as fluxes. The prepared phosphors are characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), and SEM. PL emission of undoped Sr2CeO4 phosphor and doped with various concentrations of Er was studied. The observed PL emission is at 470 nm followed by the primary Er emissions with good intensity at 527, 536, 550, 559 and 567 nm. The present phosphor may be a good candidate for compact fluorescent lamps for green emission.
