Abstract
The present contribution aimed to study the fluid-structure interaction self-exciting mechanisms acting on flexible structures in uniform flows. For that, the resulting two-dimensional limited cycle oscillation movement of flexible models were investigated in both laminar and turbulent uniform flows, for a velocity up to 2 m/s. The coupled fluid and structure movement was characterized using a modified particle image velocimetry system complemented by a time-phase detector to obtain accurate time-phase resolved measurements of both the flow velocity field and also the structure deflection within a motion period. In this contribution, the results for a specific structure configuration are presented.
