Abstract

The next-generation of fast time-of-flight detectors, with expected time resolutions ≤ 10 ps and space resolutions ≤ 1 mm, are attractive in many fields, including particle and nuclear physics, medical and industrial applications. We show how precise timing and space resolution can be used to improve muon cooling measurement for muon collider studies, TOF spectrometry, and particle identification in general collider detectors. Results of simulation studies are presented.
