Abstract
⺠Deterministic and Monte Carlo (MC) techniques are complementary. ⺠Three examples of photon transport illustrate the need of both approaches. ⺠MC algorithm of the Compton profile is refined using a deterministic model. ⺠A deterministic approachoutperforms MC to describethe natural line breath. ⺠A new improved photon kernel is defined using a MC coupled electron-photon code.
