Abstract

The decays of 21-min 70Ga and 14-h 72Ga have been studied from neutron-irradiated Ga. Several discrepancies in previous studies are resolved and inconsistencies in the previous 72Ge data set are addressed. New values are proposed for the energies and β-decay branchings of the 72Ge levels. Energies and intensities of the 70Ga γ rays are also discussed. A new measurement and critical discussion of the 72Ga half-life is offered. Measurements of the 69Ga and 71Ga thermal neutron capture cross sections and resonance integrals are also reported.

► Observed Ga-70, Ga-72 gamma rays from neutron-irradiated Ga samples. ► High-resolution study of gamma-ray energies and intensities. ► Measured contribution to gamma intensities from coincidence summing. ► Produced new set of Ge-70, Ge-72 level energies and beta branchings. ► Measured neutron capture cross section of Ga-69 and Ga-71.
