Abstract
Neutron-induced gamma analyzers using 14 MeV neutrons have been used for on-line coal analysis in recent years. This work deals with improvement in detection sensitivities of C and O, by introducing a channel in the moderator of such an analyzer. The results of Monte–Carlo simulations show that, by introducing the channel, it can obtain a significant improvement in detection sensitivities of C and O, and even improve measurement of H and Si. The percentage improvements in detection sensitivities of C and O are 46.1% and 56.8% (channel volume V1), 69.6% and 88.9% (channel volume V2), respectively.
