Use of glycine system for gamma ray dosimetry has been investigated by a spectrophotometric read-out method. Accordingly, glycine is irradiated in actual irradiation conditions for different gamma ray dosimetry applications such as dose-rate determination at specified locations in irradiation chamber Panoramic Batch Irradiator (PANBIT), dose evaluation in the product irradiation box of the Food Package Irradiator and relative percentage dose distribution profile in central vertical plane of the irradiation volume of Gamma Cell 220. Results obtained were intercompared with that of a standard such as Fricke or glutamine dosimeter, irradiated under identical conditions. Maximum difference observed between glycine value and Fricke or glutamine value, was ±6%±6%.
