Abstract
A compact and stable photon counting system was inexpensively made for the measurement of the radiophotoluminescence (RPL) of glass dosimeters. The temperature of a UV LED and a photomultiplier tube was stabilized by Peltier devices controlled with a field programmable gate array, which made it possible to precisely read dose even in a non-air-conditioned room. Also, the response of optical components to UV light pulses was measured with the present system, which was useful for the selection of low-noise components for a stable dose reader. It was confirmed from 137Cs gamma-ray irradiation experiments that the present system with a homemade glass dosimeter had good linearity in the range from 0.03Â mGy to 70Â mGy.
