We present results from a study for GEM detector's possible application as a two-dimensional digital imaging device. We constructed a double GEM layer detector whose signal was readout through a linearly arranged 512 channel pad array. We fabricated polyimide GEM foils using a laser drilling technique. A 512 channel preamp and data acquisition electronics were integrated on the same printed circuit board as the anode electrodes of the detector. A circular shape radioactive source was scanned for intensity profile measurement in the direction perpendicular to that of the one dimensional readout array. A two-dimensional intensity profile image of the source was successfully reconstructed using the prototype detector.
