Abstract
We study the effect of noise on the properties of in–out intermittency. We add noise to a single variable of the system: the one parallel to the invariant subspace. At some magnitude of noise, a new kind of coherent stochastic resonance is observed in which the average time spent near the invariant subspace has a maximum as a function of the magnitude of the noise. We present numerical simulations of this phenomenon and a simple theoretical model using a Markov chain.
