Abstract
⺠A POD/Galerkin method is applied to reduce the model of a chemical reactor. ⺠Optimal construction of the POD basis is sought by sampling of the chaotic orbits. ⺠The information content of the orbits is assessed via the Shannon entropy. ⺠The resulting reduced model works well also far from the chaos window.
