Abstract
The superstring and heterotic string effective actions are studied to determine the feasibility of truncating the expansion in powers of αâ². The renormalizability properties of the dimensionally reduced actions are then examined. The solutions to the corrected field equations are then shown to satisfy physical conditions on the internal symmetry spaces.
