Abstract
⺠Gaussian beams constitute a complete set of basis functions for both transmission and reception of wave fields. ⺠The directivity of Gaussian beams makes them efficient building blocks for computing interactions between scatterers. ⺠The patterns of the transmitting and receiving beams can multiply to produce a higher directivity than is usually seen with Gaussian beams.
