Abstract
A novel formulation based upon mechanical action and both lagrangian and hamiltonian densities is presented for the optical lossless cubic-quintic Schrödinger equation within a context of analytical-mechanics analogies. As a matter of fact, the corresponding Lagrange and Hamilton equations for the motion of a fictitious classical particle in a phase plane are obtained and discussed.PACS numbers: 05.20.-y, 42.65.-k, 42.65.Tg, 47.10.Df.
