Abstract
In this paper we describe those transformations on the space of density operators which preserve commutativity, or a certain measure of commutativity, or commutativity and the fidelity between commuting density operators. The obtained results expose how close those maps are to the transformations implemented by unitary or antinuitary operators, i.e., to the most fundamental symmetries of quantum systems.
