Abstract
This paper studies the power spectrum of monochromatic waves received from a relative far source. The power spectrum depends upon the wave frequency range. Indeed, acoustic waves generally remain monochromatic. On the contrary, electromagnetic waves lead to Gaussian or Lorentzian shaped band spectra for instance. As shown in the present paper, this spectrum distortion can be explained by a random delay in most physical situations. Furthermore, a Gaussian delay is a well-fitted model for transmissions in a large frequency range.
