Abstract
⺠Atherosclerosis and NAFLD are major causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. ⺠Guinea pigs have been suggested to be a more “realistic” model for atherosclerosis. ⺠Very few studies in guinea pigs report observations of atherosclerotic lesions. ⺠Guinea pigs may be better models for studies into liver pathology. ⺠Future work should address variability in experimental conditions to allow comparison.
