Abstract
âºHepcidin and ceruloplasmin were competitors affecting ferroportin internalization. âºCeruloplasmin stabilized ferroportin under low hepcidin conditions. âºFerroxidase activity played an important role in the stability of ferroportin. âºMutant ceruloplasmin with low ferroxidase activity impaired ferroportin stability. âºSerum hepcidin levels and hepatic ferroportin were decreased in aceruloplasminemia.
