Abstract
Inflamm-aging which links the expression of proinflammatory cytokines and production of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) by fibroblasts has a myriad of consequences in tissue homeostasis. It can induce Matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) expression, involving feedback amplification loops, leading to Collagen and Elastic fibers degradation, as occurring in skin and aorta with age. Such inflammatory state can be exacerbated in age- Associated Elastic tissue diseases. Pharmacological approaches might involve the control of the Expression, of the activation or of the activity of MMP.
