Abstract
Nanodiamond (ND) powder electrodes were fabricated and the electrochemical properties were investigated in the solution containing nitrite in this article. This electrode exhibits substantial catalytic ability toward the oxidation of nitrite anions. The electrochemical oxidation mechanism of nitrite on the ND powder electrode is discussed. The oxidation of NaNO2 is a two-electron transfer process. The electrode reaction rate constant k is estimated to be 2.013 × 10−4 cm/s and (1 − α)nα is 0.1643. The peak current increases linearly with the rising of the concentration of NaNO2.
