Thermodynamic excess quantities (VE, CpE, HE) of liquid salol–lidocaine eutectic mixture were determined from 298 to 473 K. The results demonstrated that the cross-associations established between salol and lidocaine are weaker than the self-associations in the pure liquids but tend to be favored when the temperature is increased. This interpretation was supported by infrared spectroscopy experiments performed in the same range of temperature. Such an approach, combining both thermodynamic and spectroscopic analyses, gives complementary information on organic liquid binary mixtures.
