Abstract

Liquid–liquid equilibria (LLE) for saturated aqueous solution of glycerol + 1-butanol + water + NaCl were measured at 303.15 K, 323.15 K and 343.15 K under atmosphere pressure using a static method. All the LLE data followed the Eisen–Joffe equation. The experimental data were also correlated with the NRTL model. New thermodynamic interaction parameters for 1-butanol, water, NaCl versus glycerol, respectively, were estimated with the Simplex method and the Maximum Likelihood principle. The results were satisfactory in accordance with root mean square deviations between experimental and calculated compositions, which were below 2.2%.

► LLE data for glycerol, water and 1-butanol with saturated NaCl were obtained. ► The data were correlated with Eisen–Joffe equation and NRTL model respectively. ► New parameters of NRTL model for the system were estimated. ► There is no temperature effect on the coexistence region within the range studied.
