Abstract

This work presents a new simple method to estimate the melting points of non-aromatic energetic compounds, which contain energetic functional groups C–NO2, C–ONO2 and N–NO2. This method can allow the reliable prediction of melting points of non-aromatic energetic materials through a new general correlation. Elemental composition and some specific parameters of non-aromatic energetic compounds are important factors. The predicted results for various non-aromatic energetic compounds show that the present method gives reliable predictions of melting points with respect to previous works. This method has been tested for different newly synthesized explosives with complex molecular structures and energetic compounds with several energetic functional groups.
