As one of the promising alternative refrigerants to replace HCFC-22, the gas phase PVTx properties of the ternary mixture HFC-161/125/32 have been studied. A total of 140 gas phase PVTx properties for the ternary system was obtained at nine different compositions by using the isochoric method. The uncertainties in the present work were estimated to be ±1.5 kPa for pressure, ±6 mK for temperature and ±0.15% for composition. On the basis of the experimental PVTx property data, a truncated virial equation of state was developed for HFC-161/125/32 system. A good agreement between the experimental data and the model was confirmed to be within ±0.42% in pressure. The present model covers a temperature range of 298.18–403.20 K, pressures up to 5.1960 MPa and densities up to 2.1622 mol dm−3 at any composition of the ternary HFC-161/125/32 system.
