Abstract

In this article, we present experimental data on high pressure CO2-induced melting point depression of low-melting ionic salts (ionic liquids).A phenomenon that is widely reported for other organic compounds (e.g. polymers and lipids), it has only received more attention for ionic liquids in the last couple of years, and since a dramatic effect of 120 K melting point depression was discovered. The obtained results are compared with recently published data, in order to rationalize the effect of high pressure CO2 on melting of ionic liquid-like salts.
