Abstract
Minimal changes nephropathy and focal and segmental glomerulosclerosis are common proteinuric glomerulopathies. At present, specific therapies to treat patients with these glomerulopathies are still lacking mostly because of limitations in our understanding of the involved pathomechanisms. This review will focus on disease models that approximate the human diseases of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and minimal change disease (MCD). The utility of the discussed models will be discussed with a special regard to pathology, the model organism, special issues, and technical feasibility.
