Abstract
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Currently available pharmacological and interventional options have improved dramatically over the last few decades, but therapies are generally inadequate to cure congestive heart failure, multivessel coronary disease, or many common arrhythmias. Novel approaches to these common cardiovascular diseases are needed. This review focuses on the potential for gene therapeutics to treat or possibly cure cardiovascular disease.
