Abstract
Here, I explore strategies for integrating the software systems that support the conduct of clinical trials, identify the major application areas, describe the typical approach of feeding data into a central ‘hub’, propose that the hub of choice should be an electronic data capture (EDC) system rather than a traditional clinical data management system, and describe the integration features that are important when selecting an EDC system.
