Abstract

A kinetic model of cobalt-based Fischer–Tropsch synthesis was developed based on detailed reaction mechanisms. A mathematical model of a slurry CSTR was also constructed. Kinetic parameters and physical properties were estimated by fitting experimental data under a variety of conditions. Simulated values were in good agreement with experimental data, and the suitability of the estimated parameters was discussed by comparison with reported values. The developed model was used to evaluate the effects of operating conditions on CO conversion and the distribution of hydrocarbon products. Temperature and H2/CO ratio were found to be important variables, affecting the entire product distribution.
