Abstract
Our study extends our understanding about the role of the bone marrow microenvironment in the regulation of megakaryo/thrombopoiesis by showing that soluble factors derived from macrophages positively or negatively control megakaryocyte growth, differentiation, maturation, and their ability to produce platelets.
