Abstract
The experimental densities ρ of binary mixtures of 2-pyrrolidone with benzene, toluene, o-xylene, m-xylene, and p-xylene have been measured at T = (293.15, 303.15, 313.15, 323.15, 333.15, and 343.15) K and atmospheric pressure over the whole mole fraction range. From these results, excess molar volumes VE have been calculated and fitted to the Redlich–Kister polynomial equation. The VE values are negative over the whole mole fraction range and at all temperatures. Apparent molar volumes VφiVφi, and partial molar volumes at infinite dilution, Vi∞ have been calculated. The variation of these properties with composition and temperature of the binary mixtures are discussed in terms of molecular interactions.
